People with chronic pain often feel like their pain and even their life is not within their control. This can be due to regular “flare ups” causing many hours or even days of severe pain; but also major issues at home or at work. Advance Healthcare Online Pain Management can help you to regain control over your pain and life issues on your journey to recovery. The following resources are useful to read, listen to and engage with over your pain management program. Thinking about how this information might apply to your situation and discussing this with your Advance practitioner will greatly assist in your recovery.
1. Pacing - information on dealing with your flare ups and learning from the experience so they won’t happen as frequently or be as severe. Pacing gives you greater control over your pain
2. Pacing homework sheet - print this sheet and learn about what your pacing issues are and what your “stable baseline” might look like. Then discuss with your practitioner
3. Pacing eLearning module - see the team explain pacing including discussions with real patients and even a quiz to text your understanding. Over the program you can retake the quiz and see if your understanding is improving!
4. Problem solving - dealing effectively with life’s issues requires a problem solving approach. This is a skill that can be learnt, practiced and improved over time combined with your sessions with the Advance practitioners. This sheet explores the principles of problem solving that can lead to greater control over your life issues
