Dr Rohan Kamath

Specialist Pain Medicine Physician

MBBS, FRACGP, FFPMANZCA

Clinics: Clyde North, Dandenong

Dr Rohan Kamath is a dual-trained medical specialist with a background in General Practice and advanced subspecialty training in Pain Medicine. With over a decade of experience in the Australian healthcare system, Rohan brings a unique and holistic perspective to the management of chronic pain, grounded in evidence-based practice and a deep commitment to patient-centred care.

Rohan began his career as a General Practitioner, working across Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs. During this time, he developed a keen interest in chronic pain management—a complex area often underserved in both primary and specialist care. He observed first-hand the profound impact of persistent pain on an individual’s physical function, mental wellbeing, family dynamics, and financial stability. His experiences as a GP motivated him to pursue further qualifications in Pain Medicine, with the aim of bridging the gap between patients and the care they deserve.

He completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2018 and went on to attain his Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA) in July 2025. During his specialist training, he worked at two of Melbourne’s leading pain centres—The Austin Hospital in Heidelberg and the Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management at St Vincent's Hospital in Fitzroy. These high-volume tertiary centres allowed him to train under some of the best minds in the field, refining his clinical acumen in managing a broad range of chronic pain presentations.

Dr Kamath’s current clinical interests span a wide range of chronic pain conditions, including neuropathic pain, chronic widespread pain (Fibromyalgia), musculoskeletal disorders, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), post-surgical pain, and headache disorders.

He is passionate about the biopsychosocial model of care and believes that the most effective pain management is interdisciplinary—one that involves not just pharmacological or procedural interventions but also education, rehabilitation, mental health support, and lifestyle reconfiguration.

At the heart of Dr Kamath’s practice is a deep respect for the patient’s voice. He is a strong advocate of collaborative decision-making, taking the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, compassionate language. His goal is always to help patients feel heard, informed, and empowered to participate actively in their complex care journey.

Rohan joined Advance Healthcare on 11th of May 2023 and currently consults from their Clyde North and Dandenong clinics, where he works alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, integrated pain management services.

Outside of his clinical life, Rohan enjoys travelling and adventure sports with his wife Reema, a Gynaecologist. Multilingual and culturally sensitive, Rohan is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, and Konkani, which helps him connect meaningfully with patients from diverse backgrounds.

With a strong foundation in general practice, rigorous specialist pain training, and a genuine commitment to holistic, patient-centred care, Dr Rohan Kamath strives to not only treat pain but also to help patients reclaim control over their lives.
