Sports physiotherapy involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of sporting conditions and injuries.  In addition, there is a strong emphasis on injury prevention.

Across all our clinics Advance Healthcare has physiotherapists with a strong interest in sports injuries and experience working with sportspeople since 1995.

At Boronia we also have Aidan Rich who is an APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist.  The title of 'APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist' is protected by the Australian Physiotherapy Association, and represents a high level of competency in Sports Physiotherapy.  Aidan completed his Masters in Sports Physiotherapy as well as the APA Level 3 Sports Course (a one week, live-in course at the Australian Institute of Sport) to obtain this qualification.

Aidan works at our Boronia clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our physiotherapist can provide sports physiotherapy to a range of injuries including:

  • Tendinopathies (tendinitis) such as achilles tendinopathy, patella tendinopathy, gluteal tendinopathy and 'tennis elbow'

  • Rehabilitation from surgery, such as knee arthroscopy, ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction, rotator cuff surgery, and hip arthroscopy

  • Overuse sporting conditions such as 'shin splints' (or Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome), ITB Friction syndrome, 'osteitis pubis' (or chronic groin pain), and stress fractures

  • Low back and neck related sporting injuries using principles from our ground breaking and recently published clinical trial

You can find more on Aidan and our other physiotherapists on our practitioners page, or on Aidan's website or LinkedIn page.
